Sam Burner, Building Performance Project Coordinator

Sam is the first point of contact for builders who are looking to improve the energy performance of their residential projects. Based out of our Morrisville headquarters, he can help with any certification a builder is looking to achieve, including LEED, Energy Star, NAHB Green and more. Once a project is complete, he issues certificates and relays information to utilities and federal agencies so builders can take advantage of green incentive programs.

With a degree in architecture from the University of Michigan, Sam spent time with firms in Seattle and Philadelphia before moving to North Carolina. After searching for green companies, he found out about several of SEM’s projects and liked what he saw. Now that he’s with us, he loves working with builders to identify ways to increase building performance. To him, it’s all part of SEM’s commitment to a triple bottom line philosophy: “at the end of the day you know you’re a part of a movement to change the industry.”

On his time off, Sam enjoys camping with friends, heading to the art museum, and taking care of Finley, his Great Pyrenees-boxer mix. He also likes to travel when he can, most recently trekking along the Great Lakes.
